About my class

First of all, one of our second grade writing standards calls for students to publish their writing digitally. My classroom has one student computer, which I am so thankful for. However, these two laptops would greatly help my writing center become more oriented to our state standards! Secondly, Georgia Milestones testing requires students to test on laptops, but many children don't have access to laptops outside of school. I want all my students to go to third grade able to type and work a laptop. I want my kids to be prepared for third grade. Additionally, these laptops will help my kids extend their thinking and follow their curiosity. Students will be able to research their interests. As a teacher, I will be able to help use their interests and direct them towards standards. Laptops will also help me use targeted intervention for students who are struggling with particular skills. Although I understand that technology can never replace a teacher, it can help me multi-task and help many students at once when used correctly. Lastly, learning to efficiently and appropriately use technology is a life skill we need to expose our students to. In this day and age, being competent with technology is almost a necessity. However, technology is very expensive and hard to provide in many schools. My students would greatly benefit from these two laptops.
