The first day at a new middle school can be an extremely emotional experience; transfer students walk through our doors full of excitement, stress, anxiety, and even fear. This memorable moment gives our community a chance to create a great first impression and welcome these students to our school. I would like to turn this time of transition and uncertainty into a moment of opportunity to welcome our new students. I plan to create welcome bags for students who transfer in to our school. Every item the students receive will help them succeed at U-E and will show them who we are and what we value. Each bag will contain a book to show that we care about reading. We’ll include school supplies because we value academics. A pack of coupons will encourage their families to support local businesses. Items will also be decorated with tiger paws and orange and black to show our school spirit. I am so grateful to our library friends who have already contributed to this project. I have some items ready to give to students, and this request will allow us to reach our goal of 75 full gift bags for our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who move into our community. Thank you so much for considering this request!
