Fine Motor practice allows students to take charge of their learning as well as to become more independent. Currently my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: at blocks, puzzles, dramatic play, fine motor, art, and the sand table. The materials I have chosen will help students to categorize, grasp objects, building blocks, as well as improving the dexterity in their hands. Making sure students have the opportunities for practice in various centers is not only extremely beneficial, but imperative to their success as an independent student. In addition, my students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of activities that are appropriate for their ability level. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional fine motor options to make more effective learning choices. The plastic bins will allow me to create various activities for students and organize them easily throughout the classroom in the various centers. I have seen how independence can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional opportunities will help us grow even more!
