Sets of eight copies of novels will be used by myself and other teachers in the building who will facilitate student book clubs. Novels such as "Charlotte's Web" and "James and the Giant Peach" will empower small groups of students in all grades to read at their own rate, talk about the stories with peers, build their vocabulary, increase reading stamina and grow their love of reading. Students are empowered when they are invited to participate in a special book club. Their sense of belonging and self-worth bolster their desire to become stronger readers. This project will support reading and a sense of community among our students.
