My students need STEM materials to explore their world. The light table will allow my students to explore color mixing as well as light and dark. It will allow them to explore letters and numbers in a new way. It will give them the opportunity to engage in engineering and dramatic play. A light table will peak my students' interest in any concept presented to them there. As we move through each theme the light table can be used in many ways. In our family and friends theme, the kids can use it to be a vet or a doctor and look at x-rays. In the construction theme, they can build tall buildings with the crystal blocks. In our changes theme, they can investigate nature. The light table will allow them to explore color mixing, patterns, and light and dark. We can use the light table manipulative kit to create new colors. We can use materials already in our classroom such as tissue paper and construction paper to create new ways to explore art using light in all new ways.
