My students are very compassionate and want to help. Last year we noticed that many of our students were going home on the weekend and not eating until they returned to school on Monday. We were able to support raise and get donations to get our food bank up and running last year, however we need a jump start to get it going this year. We currently are serving 20 students, but could definitely serve more. We had to select the most needy out of our students. The Feed Our Friends Food Bank is completely organized and run by our students for our students. When donations come in, our students organize the items and put them on shelves by expiration date. Every Friday, bags are made for our students who receive the food. We always include a fruit, vegetable, breakfast item, pasta, and a snack. Depending on the supplies for the week, we may be able to send more. We always try to send more food home for longer breaks. Our 5th grade class takes pride in this project. Through this they are being taught to be compassionate, caring citizens of not only our school, but also our community. Please consider helping our students take on this project again this year.
