Imagine a room that is made completely of cinder blocks…no windows to let in natural light or fresh air. The room is almost at the center of the school, which helps in terms of location for students who come to visit, but not for ventilation or "airing out" of the room. I try my hardest to make my office as inviting as possible: the walls are painted a beautiful shade of dark teal and grey, with coordinating white shelving, a nurse's bed/cot with beautiful pillows and comfy blankets, and square tufts for kids to sit on. The walls are adorned with drawings and colored pictures and messages of love and thanks for their school nurse. I see numerous students daily for personal medicinal needs, as well as any other students who come for various illnesses or other need that requires a nurse visit. I usually have a minimum of two students in my office at all times. If I get a free moment, I am constantly cleaning, wiping down surfaces, and using Clorox wipes on everything to hinder the spread of germs. I do as much as possible to prevent the spread of germs: at the end of every day, I wipe everything down, as well as bring home any blanket or soiled linen that were used/laid on by ill students to launder and bring back the next day. My hope is that by getting an air purifier for my small nurse’s office it will help filter out any germs that reside and enter on a daily basis with any ill student. I try my hardest to prevent the spread of illness and this purifier would only add an additional level of cleanliness. Please help support my project for an air purifier to help keep our kids as healthy as possible.
