Although we are located in a relatively affluent area of Chicago, our school has nearly 85% of students who classify as low-income. We have a fairly mixed student body and more than 1/3 of students come from far areas to attend our neighborhood school. Most also have many responsibilities outside of school that hinder their ability to realize their full potential, so their time in school is sometimes the only time many of them get to work on anything school-related. Still, our students are motivated and engaged young individuals who are eager to learn and succeed. Moreover, as juniors, they are all at the peak of their high school careers, preparing to begin their next journeycollege!
