I look forward to interacting with my students and providing them with the opportunities that will give them the strategies and tools to be successful. Their successes are measured in goals and objectives that are outlined in their educational plans. Those plans are developed to meet each one of my students were they currently are and move them forward. I would like to provide my students with hands-on materials that will assist them each day as they learn. Creativity springs forth when the chance is given to discover. I am requesting bean bags, magnetic base ten and array sets, volume measuring set, headphones, play pellets, rainbow scratch paper and tools, and chart stand. Some of the more difficult concepts to teach are in Mathematics. Each year I find that students do better understanding and applying the many concepts if that have something in their hands to manipulate. The Giant Magnetic Base Ten and Array sets , along with the measuring set will give a larger than normal visual that students will be able to see and use in multiple areas of the class and school. The headphones are needed for when the students have to listen to directions or watch videos online that are used as individual practice sessions in small groups. The chart stand will replace a discard one from last year. We use anchor charts for every concept to give the students a visual flowchart of directions and steps to complete task. The other items (bean bags, play pellets, and rainbow scratch paper and tools) are kinestic items to help with sensory activities that promote fine motor skills and structured movement.
