Students learn better in small groups! I use small groups to teach my students math. These supplies will give them the chance to play and learn at the same time. Some of the students will be using these centers independently while I work with other students to better their understanding of the math lessons. I want my students to be stronger mathematicians, build a supportive and cooperative learning community, and have fun learning!
I want to inspire students of all levels to be risk takers and problem solvers. Kids are more likely to be successful in small groups and these items will help with that. They will be used by all first graders at all levels.
The items on my wish list will be used in line with our math curriculum. First graders are at the beginning stages of their math journey. They are learning about numbers and the meaning of them. Some of these items will be used for the students to learn what each number means and how they relate to each other through number sense. The listening centers will be used for a small group of students at a time so they can practice their math skills while listening to the directions. The geometry sets will be used so that the students can manipulate the shapes and use them to better understand how they are built. We will be using all these items to build an understanding of mathematics.
