Students will apply learned skills to the classroom pet. Projects on ecosystems, genetics, and engineering design will focus on how to best care for our leopard gecko. Students will have a real-world connection while developing curiosity, scientific vocabulary, and respect for living things. In the creation of story books, students will blend STEM and Art to share their passion for our classroom pet. Students will communicate the delicate balance of temperature and humidity, and of a protein-rich diet for the little predator. They will diagram the body systems and forces that help the gecko survive. Students will graph real-world data, on the pet's habits and growth. My students need a classroom mascot, to inspire them to do their best, and to arrive to class excited for what knew information they will learn about their new best friend.
