Montessori students are encouraged to build focus, concentration and a sense of independency through practical life and sensory activities. The materials selected for this project will be utilized to enhance the skills mentioned. Students will use dressing frames to assist them in developing practical self-help skills used for everyday living. Children feel a sense of accomplishment when they can tie their own shoes or zip their own jackets. Students will use spindle boxes to assist in developing numeration and counting skills. Self correcting readiness puzzles will be used as individualized work to promote concentration while strengthening fine motor skills. The wooden trays will be used to present and store lessons on the shelves. The requested material will be used to provide students with "new work" experiences that will help strengthen their focus and concentration while fostering a sense of independence. My students look forward to coming in everyday to discover "new work" available on the shelves. They are excited about having a lesson on each work and are even more eager to work with materials independently. The donations to this project will provide my students with "new work" experience and will help them strengthen the skills they need to become successful learners.
