Reading in first grade is an integral part of continued education. Ability to read is the MOST important skill to be proficient in, in order to be successful in all subject areas throughout a child's school career. My students need packs of interesting leveled texts that will support their reading and writing, while helping them to grow as more efficient readers! I am a first grade teacher trying to keep reading instruction engaging and meaningful for my 20 students. The past two years, I have been incorporating research-based learning into our Reading curriculum. After collecting data, I have found that I do not have leveled readers that meet the needs of ALL my students. During my daily guided reading instruction, my students have a wide range of abilities. Although we work hard to keep things interesting by providing a variety of resources, it is difficult to find options consistently.
