The "Shmoop" teacher subscription that I have requested will allow me to design lessons that meet the needs of a vast range of learners. My students will benefit from flashcards, study tools, and practice problems - all done online. I will be able to create a virtual classroom and customize assignments to ensure that students are learning at a pace that is “just right”. Too often, students are subjected to material that is below or above their level. This resource will benefit my students because they will be more engaged while also being supported and challenged to do their best and to reach their goals. Students will be able to use their Chromebooks to navigate through interactive, engaging assessments provided by this site. For example, the site provides teachers with assessments to test the level of a student in a range of areas. How are they with grammar? Comparing and contrasting? Point of view? This will assess their ability and will tell me exactly where I need to begin instruction for the individual student. It will be a time saver in my classroom as we will spend less time assessing (distributing, taking assessments, grading assessments, reviewing results - all of this is done in one shot, and not in multiple class periods!). We will be able to spend our valuable time learning. Once students have been assessed and have had their levels determined, I can begin designing my instruction. The Schmoop teacher subscription provides my students with a practice problem, a video, and a review activity for each skill that students are required to learn for the CCSS. The benefits of the subscription are endless, especially for my students who need as much support as I am able to give them. Thank you so much for your consideration.
