The pull and release of a stretchy band can help students kinesthetically feel how music moves, teaching them to move musically and expressively. When students learn to move musically, they easily transfer that to singing or playing with more expression. This, in turn, can help them become more expressive and fluent speakers and readers. These stretchy bands will also be used with younger students and higher needs students to help them learn to keep a steady beat. Studies have shown a direct correlation between the ability to keep a steady beat and fluent reading. This project will not just help students in the music classroom, it will transfer to other classes, as well as to other areas of life. Every student in the school will benefit from this project. That is nearly 515 kids!
