I am requesting books to help my students develop social emotional skills, and build a safe, diverse and welcoming learning environment with each other. Literacy is a bridge for students to learn the whole world. I will use books to engage my ELs with diverse cultural backgrounds in listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. Students will explore colorful pictures and wonderful ideas. With appropriate scaffolding, students will brainstorm strategies that help them overcome difficulties both at home and in the school. Students will also build compassion through literacy and be the ones who support each other. I believe that those books will bring positive energy to my students whether they study with me in the classroom or have remote learning at home.
