The abilities in my 4th grade math class range from 8th grade math to 1st grade math! I have kids that are at a HUGE economic disadvantage, kids that have doctors for parents, kids still learning English, and kids that just need a little TLC! It is no secret that kids LOVE technology, so incorporating it into their everyday learning is necessary to keep them excited! Having enough tablets to create an individualized learning station in my math class would benefit my students more than you know! My building utilizes programs such as Moby Max, Xtramath, and Khan Academy. However, the lack of technology makes it extremely difficult to use these programs consistently. Having tablets available to the kids also helps with down time. When there is technology at their fingertips, it is easy to grab it and get going! We, as teachers, have to adapt to the kids we have. Kids get excited about using technology, so I need to change to keep them interested and excited in school. In the long run, we are all life long learners! We need to instill the love of learning into our kids, so they can grow into curious, motivated, and successful adults!
