Each text selected for this project correlates to writing units that are engaging and age appropriate for each type of writing taught. For example the book, "What Does an Author Do?" will help students understand the specific role of an author. The book titled "Red is Best" will help my students when writing opinion texts. These texts will help students by giving them concrete ways of showing different types of writing by starting with pictures, moving to sentences and stories, and finally different types of writing such as opinion, narrative, informative. The students in my class deserve to be exposed to high quality mentor texts with rich vocabulary and pictures. These supplies will help enrich writing instruction as well as organize each unit of writing. These items will help engage students in their writing instruction.
