The leveled library is essential for students to have books at their own personal reading level. This will help increase fluency and comprehension. It will give them access to different genres of books and will make our classroom literacy rich. The art supplies like construction paper and dot painters, will be used to create literacy projects surrounding books that we read. Art nurtures the soul like reading nurtures the mind. They go hand in hand. This will enable students to access choice in their own reading materials and will increase their desire to read. If they are interested in a topic, they will be more likely invested in it.
