My students come to me when they are 3 years old and they have been diagnosed with a severe and profound special need. My children are amazing at overcoming what some would think was not possible. We have students who start walking, start talking, begin to feed themselves for the first time. For most of them, this is their first experience with an educational setting. We push them everyday because we know what they are capable of. They may have special circumstances but they have the right to the same education as their typically developing peers. It just takes longer sometimes and we are so proud of them all and everything they can and will accomplish.
