History is better seen than just heard. The best way to allow students to see history in action is through the power of film. That is why I decided to start a movie club at my school. As a history teacher, I see the grudge that some students hold against their history teacher because it does not relate to them. This changes in my history club! In this club we spend the year watching some of the requested movies including "Saving Private Ryan" and "Pearl Harbor". This allows students to see history happening rather than just reading it in a book. It also gives the student a fun and interactive way to enjoy history be watching these movies. That is why I need these DVDs so that students can enjoy this experience! I need the microwave so we can enjoy popcorn while we watch. At this low-income Title One school, this is an experience that many do not get.
