Music provides an outlet and brings words to life. In education there is the consistent search for engagement strategies. I believe a key to this is through music. The items I have chosen are going to be used to create a music activity station that will create a passion for reading, writing, and hands-on experience with implementing grammar. I plan on implementing this activity station by utilizing the tablets to download songs with lyrics for students to not only listen to songs but be able to read the lyrics, think about them, and understand them. Through repeated readings, they will also improve their reading fluency and in reader's workshop they will compare and contrast songs, their lyrics, and their meanings. They will also be enhancing their writing skills by creating new lyrics, completing the lyrics while listening and following along, as well as finding synonyms to change lyrics. In order to implement this, I will also need CDs with fun familiar music, heavy duty cases to protect our tablets, headphones, and cables to create a charging station.
