Students love to have choices. One of the greatest choice I can give them as their teacher is to allow them to choose where they'd like to sit, but only if it will allow them to do their best work. When I allow my students to select their seating during reading or math centers, they enjoy their work a lot more. I have students who likes sitting on the floor using lap desks to do their work and I have students who are content with their regular classroom desks. I want to give every student the opportunity to sit wherever they like to do their work.
