The materials I'm requesting will help my students focus on a topic for writing, while also learning more about our world. Because my school has a very high ELL population, writing is a challenge, especially when it is writing in a second language as a six-year-old! I plan to help my students read the articles in Time for Kids, discuss what we read, teach them how to create idea webs using a topic we read about, and then have them use their idea webs to form sentences, paragraphs, and stories. I think that reading about a relevant topic will really help engage them!
