I've noticed this year with my diverse group of students that a lot of them are not very interested in reading. I sat down the other day to reorganize our little classroom library and realized I have a lot of out-dated and beat up hand-me-down books. I've been very grateful for the books I have been given but I can understand the lackluster interest in them. I've utilized Scholastic but with our low-income families, purchases for classroom points have been few and far between. "There's no such thing as a kid who hates reading, there are kids that love reading and kids who are reading the wrong books". I came across that by James Patterson the same day I was reorganizing. I knew I needed to make some changes to my library to help my disinterested students fall in love with books.
