Many of the children in my classroom are from families that are from homes that are using their home language as their primary communication, some of the children are receiving speech services, some are just young and need to be able to see appropriate language skills.
This project will help the children to learn these communication skills and at the same time provide social interactions through play.
Using these materials will help the children to learn to communicate throughout different areas of the room. Retelling stories, using names of materials, or just asking a friend to share a toy. Language will be used daily as they use the new equipment/toys. The children will be able to talk about what they are seeing in the x-rays and view masters. They will be able to talk about different building that are using in the blocks and talk with friends about how they have used their buildings. Asking to share toys and cooperating with one another through play is a very important social skill to learn.
