Most of my student experience everyday sensations with more or less intensity than their grade level peers without disabilities. These sensations can cause emotional regulation, attending to a task, social interaction, and increased behavior. It is my job as their teacher to create a welcoming and warm environment where they feel welcomed and loved. It is our goal to create a classroom environment that is sensory friendly and welcoming. I would love to incorporate more of the five senses into our classroom by using a variety of materials and adaptations for our students learning to increase social interaction, attention, and regulation as well as help decrease behaviors. 5 Major Senses – Vision – Hearing (auditory) – Touch (tactile) – Smell (olfactory) – Taste (gustatory)
