This project will help me create Makerspace in my Kindergarten classroom. A Makerspace is an area that provides students with a space and a variety of materials to design and build projects that address real world problems. For example, in Kindergarten we start simple; design an object that will help me reach an itch on my back. The students then look at their materials available, brainstorm a design and then build their prototype and share it with others. They use academic skills they have learned throughout the year and apply them to a hands on, academic exploration. Makerspace promote critical thinking, hands on learning, independent and cooperative learning and pride in one’s craftsmanship.
