As teachers, we spend a great deal of money purchasing supplies the students need each day such as pencils, erasers, and notebooks. After purchasing these materials we do not have enough funds to purchase additional classroom resources. We would like to purchase highlighter tape and lined chart paper to enhance our small group reading and writing instruction. In our small group reading and writing instruction, we place a great emphasis on vocabulary and sight words. Our students are English Language learners so vocabulary instruction is crucial. Highlighter tape would allow us to make vocabulary words stand out in a guided reading text. To follow up small group reading instruction we would use the lined chart paper to create shared writing as a group.
