The selected literature will provide a platform to open dialogue regarding difficult topics and behaviors experienced and exhibited by my students. The primary goals of utilizing this literature with my students are to help the students acknowledge struggles they experience, open dialogue regarding these difficult issues, provide skills and strategies to overcome these challenges, and empowering them to grow forward in life. As an alternative to suspension teacher, I want to empower my students with the skills, confidence, and motivation to be known for their greatness. I believe in my students, and I want to give them the skills, confidence, and motivation to believe in themselves also. With your help, I will be able to provide the necessary skills to support my students in reaching their dreams. I plan to help my students reach their dreams by reading the short stories, opening discussion and dialogue regarding the main ideas of the stories, relating the topic to their personal experiences, teach and practice skills to help students overcome their challenges, develop a plan for moving forward, and provide continued encouragement and support to follow through with their plan. So far, I have seen a significant improvement in utilizing this strategy, but I am in need of additional resources on a greater number of topics to continue to support students in this way. Thank you for your time and consideration in helping my students grow forward in life through literature.
