Move over Michelangelo, first graders are anxiously waiting to produce their own pottery and sculptures! In my suburban school, the art materials are limited and the funds are non-existent to purchase equipment and supplies. I teach first graders with one-third of my class having special needs. My school has middle to low income families and my students have had little exposure to art. I want my students to experience for themselves the wonder of creating something beautiful using their hands.
