Dramatic play builds necessary skills in essential areas of development. When children pretend, they experiment with social and emotional roles and build self esteem. They cooperatively play and learn sharing, taking turns and responsibility. While imitating characters they learn empathy and develop language skills. As they enact scenarios with dramatic dress-ups they develop a sense of literacy and chronological order. Children engaged in play are creative and use a variety of problem solving skills. "Play is the highest form of research" Albert Einstein. I intend to provide my students with opportunities to study career paths and community helpers in hopes to inspire high standards of achievement.
