Reading is magic! Students who read well are more likely to succeed in other subject areas. The only way to strengthen a child's reading is to read and read often. To best meet the needs of my students' varied reading levels, I work with the students in a small group setting. Small group reading allows to me individualize the lesson to the specific needs of the students in each group. It is my job to provide each student with reading material that not only strengthens their reading skills but opens a window to the world. Most third graders are ready to read chapter books but most have never read a chapter book cover to cover. There is something magical about sharing a book with others. In our small group time, we not only read exceptional books, we share ideas, we question, we discuss, we predict, and we learn. [RL.3.(1-10), RI.3.(1-10), RF.3.(3-4)]
