With up to 24 students in my classes, it is so important to provide these children with more individualized instruction and support. Therefore, we need a space for small-group and center work. We do not currently have any furniture that is conducive to this type of learning. This kidney table will allow the students to work together, get more adult attention, and complete a variety of hands-on activities that will reinforce the many concepts we learn each day. Small-group instruction using the whiteboard surface of this table, will give me the opportunity to meet the needs of each student- including English language learners and children with special needs. It will give all students a chance to communicate with me and their peers, as well as interact with the material we are learning. Spending time with my students in a small group will also provide me with vital information about their development, which I can then use to inform future instruction and improve future success.
