My students need math and literacy games and activities to keep them engaged. My students go to math centers daily as part of our guided math instruction. It is crucial that students have engaging activities in order for me to work with small groups on the skills they need. At the same time, I need to foster their number sense and math foundation skills. The ten frame activities as well as the addition and subtraction games will allow them the opportunities to do this. The literacy activities will build upon the phonemic awareness they acquired in kindergarten that will help ensure they will be successful readers. By providing manipulatives, the students will have a concrete means of understanding the skills that are being taught, both independently and in small groups. My goal is to provide a classroom environment that is both efficient and effective for learning.
