The carpet will be used every morning to get our day started. We come together to greet each other, sing songs, practice social skills, routines and calendar. A large carpet will allow enough room for them to stand and move around in their own spot. The squares will help them stay in their own personal space. Personal space is a social skill that has to be reinforced everyday. Carpet time will be used for instruction. Children will engage in read-alouds, poetry, partner chats, dramatizations of books and independent reading. During our math block, children will explore manipulatives, fluency activities and math games.
