Ink for our currently unusable but much loved and relied-upon printer will be used daily for our students with disabilities - many of whom are ELLs with autism - in order to increase their ability to communicate and participate in their therapies, in the classroom, and at home. The ink will be used in a shared space between myself (the bilingual SLP) and 10 behavior therapists. Although it may seem like a small thing, the donations from this project will vastly improve the quality of therapy that our students receive. It is essential that these students have quality treatment and as many opportunities to communicate as their non-disabled peers in order to improve overall functioning. In addition, color ink for our printer will help facilitate improved communication between home and school by providing families with low-tech communication or visual behavior techniques we implement at school.
