Listening to and modeling after an adult reader is important to a young reader's success. It is difficult to find the time to model appropriate reading for the individual child. This project will provide each child with that experience. The students in our class will use the listening center every day. Currently, we have old CD players that skip or stop working all together. Also, our headphones are made for adults and do not fit our little ones' heads. This is very frustrating for our students and interferes with their comprehension of the story. With the new listening center, our students would be able to independently listen to a variety of cross curricular stories. They will also be able to hear someone read fluently and with expression.
