Differentiation is defined as the action or process of altering. In this case, the alterations would be the methods in which I teach my students. This term is used all across the education field to describe the best practice for teaching each student at their own level. We need tablets, cases and headphones. In my class alone, I have students who speak very minimal English, students who speak English very fluently and many varying levels in between. The native tongue of my students is Somali, so communication can be a struggle sometimes. The tablets allow me to help bridge a gap that I would otherwise be fighting a losing battle with. One specific website that I have found useful and the children really seem to like is FrontRow. FrontRow allows me to assign reading, math practice, social studies topics and science exploration. This is just one resource that I will be using once this project is funded and we have tablets with cases and headphones. There are many other applications that we will be utilizing. The cases ensure we can use these tablets for as long as possible and the headphones are to help each student focus on their work. FrontRow gives the option to read the articles and questions to the students, which could otherwise be distracting without the headphones.
