These products will be used in the fifth through eighth Physical Education classroom for logging steps gathered from pedometer counts, using apps such as "Coach's Eye" to explore and evaluate instructional cues for athletic skills like swinging a baseball bat, and to monitor and evaluate overall health with information gathered from heart rate monitors worn during class. The iPad and iPad Pro will be excellent tools for all sorts of activities.
Seventh and Eighth grade Health classes will have the opportunity to create animated, informative, exciting video productions that will touch on lessons demonstrated during class. These animated videos can include information regarding the dangers of alcohol and drugs, practical refusal skills, they may even create their own Health-Wise commercial for our school's television production, "Gator TV." The iPad Pro and Apple Pencil will allow students to create works of art and share the information or save it on the available memory space.
Because of lack of funding in our school as well as the low income area, many students may be going off to high school and college with insufficient knowledge dealing with current technology. It is my hope to gradually start broadening their horizons by bringing digital devices into the classroom. Incorporating technology into periods of physical activity can encourage students to leave behind a sedentary life of video games to explore healthy lifestyles using those same technological devices.
