My students will be working with the Common Core Curriculum for ELA skills. I want to be able to provide them with resources outside of the C.C. to not only engage them in their learning but to provide a variety of experiences with written and oral language. To create readers, students must have the skills necessary but also an excitement about reading that will best be encouraged through games, read alouds, interaction with real books, and an environment that supports them. Your generous donation will help to build a world of better readers. The games and books I have chosen will be used to support my direct instruction. For example, when we are working in smaller groups, one group can play the Didax Chunking Game, the Junior Learning Different Phonics Game, use the Reading Dice, or the Snap It Up Game. Another group can be reading books that are age appropriate such as the Dr. Seuss Beginner Books or books from the Eric Carle Mini Library. Another goal is to provide an organized classroom with supplies that are easy to access for students. The organizers such as the Finnhomy 12-Drawer Basic Organizer and the Onyx Mesh Organizer would be used to allow students quick and easy access to paper, writing utensils, like the Crayola Line Markers, manipulatives for games and activities, like the Alphabet Bulletin Board Set or the Eureka Tub of Letter Tiles, and much more. This gives students independence in our room and gives them responsibility in their own learning.
