My students take French classes in a remote and uninviting area of the campus. Transforming an area of dead grass into a glorious garden full of flowers will be the first thing they see as they go through the gate into that area of school. A hummingbird feeder and wind chime will also connect them to nature as they walk by. The water-wise garden filled with spring and fall flowers will turn an area of trampled dirt and dead grass into a vibrant and welcoming area. Creating a beautiful learning environment shows students that I care about their academic and emotional well being.
