There are many different things that we could do in the classroom if we had a class set of tablets. My students will love any opportunity to use technology in the classroom. Their engagement level sky rockets when it is used. Currently we do not have enough tablets or computers to allow the students to use them as effectively as possible. Too many students have to share the 4 laptops and 3 desktop computers we currently have in the classroom. My students would be able to improve their math skills through the use of tablets, especially during differentiated instruction time. Students would be able to remediate and further enrich their knowledge of math concepts through the use of educational technology. Programs, such education galaxy and Texas Go math, would provide my students with specifically targeted math instruction in a hands-on way. We do not just use tablets to play games, we use it to create and demonstrate learning. By donating to this project, you will ensure that my students have open access to technology everyday at school. You will be giving a third grade child an experience that they wouldn't have had before. My students will get to learn how to be fluent in technology and learning at the same time , and I will be able to design more engaging and rigorous lessons. Since many of my students do not have access to technology or the internet at home, my classroom is one of the few places they have the opportunity to use educational technology to expand their mathematical knowledge and increase their excitement about learning. Providing students with tablets would increase the amount of support students receive academically, while, also, growing their confidence in mathematics and school.
