Active seating has been show to promote movements that keep the body engaged. That is the goal for the use of these chairs. They will also improve posture and allow stimulation of students' muscles. Many students learn more effectively when they are allowed to move around. These chairs will be used in small group settings where students will be reading and/or writing. It has been shown that if students are uncomfortable, they are not likely to retain new information, especially when they are thinking critically or connecting new information to prior knowledge. Active seating will allow students to be more comfortable while they are learning.
