As my students develop their reading skills, classroom texts allow for us to use a common text to grow and analyze themes. This particular text is at a lower level for my class with a range of reading levels. While developing our reading skills, I also want to address a theme that is important to the human condition. This text will provide my students with an opportunity to empathize with a central character as they navigate a world involving loss. With your help, my students will discuss complex questions that involve human reactions to traumatic situations. This project will engage students in reading while developing their ability to empathize with those around them.
