It is hard enough to get students interested in reading, let alone over to the reading nook. I use read aloud, funny voices and the newest novels to get students interested in reading. Sometimes that is enough. However, in order to get students to commit to silently reading for an extended period of time, I need something more! With fun flexible seating that is colorful and adjustable, students will get excited about turning the pages of a book and getting lost in the adventures on the page. Students will want to read longer! It is the littlest things that excite them. And being able to choose which color seat to sit in and how far back to adjust it, is just enough to motivate them. Third grade is a difficult year. We have high-stakes testing and reading is crucial. As teachers, we need to squeeze in as much reading time as possible. I would love to make a reading space that inspires my students to read but is also fun and encouraging!
