By allowing my students to have control over their learning environment, my students feel empowered and the environment is more conducive of learning. With multiple seating options like stools and chairs, students can move throughout the room and choose a learning environment where they are comfortable and ready to learn. The students can choose whether they prefer to sit or stand, as well as where to sit. When I provide options for students in their learning environment, they are able to take ownership of their learning. This flexibility allows for movement and choice, which in turn helps to discourage poor behavior choices as well.
