The materials I am requesting will give my students the opportunity to explore, build and create. In the technological age, I have found students spend less time creating with hands on materials. Play has become one dimensional as students spend more time on technology. Play is a crucial component of early childhood development. It is, in fact, a child's work. Each day I build in 15-20 minutes of exploration time. I have chosen materials for this time that are open ended and will allow student to work together as they create and build. Materials like Quadpro Magnetic Blocks, Lincoln Logs and Bristle Blocks that fit under the STEM area of the curriculum. With your help, I will be able to purchase these items and other similar items that will enhance this exploration time. By helping to purchase these items, you will be promoting mathematical thinking and reasoning in young children. These toys will also nurture fine motor development and hand eye coordination as well as foster language and social development. Students will use their imaginations to create and design and invent!
