Studies show an apparent increase in performance in people who track, analyze, and make action plans from data. In my 8th Grade Science class I have seen this in action with my past students. Data really does drive student efforts and helps them achieve more. We record our data, analyze the data, and make reasonable goals with the data that ultimately supports GROWTH in student performance. We set goals at reasonable percentages ranging from 5-15% increases each assessment. Ultimately, this tells the students it is okay NOT to make a 100 if you are not at that level yet. Instead, let's just grow by small amounts and we will get there eventually if we do not give up! Overall, this system gives students the CONFIDENCE they need!
