These books will make a difference by allowing small groups of student to conduct book clubs within the classroom. Students will self-select their titles and take an active role in literacy circles where they'll be able to experience and share their reading experience with one another. They will also select a culminating project to highlight the book and share with the class. Roles for the literacy circles include discussion leader, illustrator, real-life connector, summarizer, and word wizard. Students will alternate roles to ensure each student is actively engaged and experiences each perspective from the literature. The teacher will monitor and track the groups' progress by checking in and discussing the text on a weekly basis.
